ANNOUNCEMENT AND CALL FOR PAPERS

This conference and exhibition is jointly sponsored by the State Corporation “ROSATOM” along with several other major international companies and government organizations.

SUPPORTING ORGANIZATIONS

The International Atomic Energy Agency, World Nuclear Association and the Association "TM" are expected to continue supporting the conference by participating as supporting organizations.

CONFERENCE OBJECTIVES

The principal focus of the Conference is a discussion of the issues of latest trends and achievements in the field of radioactive waste management (RW), Spent Nuclear Fuel management (SNF), decommissioning and decontamination, environmental remediation. The importance of those issues, as well as their timely resolution in the most cost-effective and publicly acceptable way, become evident taking into account the recent tendency towards the renaissance of the nuclear energy worldwide, and specifically in Russia.

BACKGROUND

The “AtomEco – 2011” is the 5-th in a series of annual international conferences on radioactive waste management, spent nuclear fuel management and environmental remediation held in Russia organized by SC "Rosatom". The previous conference events were held in 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010. About 500 participants representing more than 100 organizations each year attended the “AtomEco” events.

CONFERENCE PROGRAM

The conference program includes an opening plenary session and several parallel program tracks with concurrent sessions. The sessions include 25-minute oral presentations, panels, workshops, and poster displays that are designed to enhance dialogue between presenters and participants. The program tracks are:

Primary Tracks

1-st Track -  Advanced fuel cycles

2-nd Track - Radioactive waste management and SNF management, environmental remediation of nuclear legacy facilities

3-rd Track - Program/project management and other managerial issues to be instrumental for nuclear industry development

4-th Track - Civil application of nuclear industry technologies, commercialization and technology transfer: radiation technologies – futures and potential markets, water treatment and clean-up, application of bioleaching technologies for man-made deposits and tails processing.

REGISTRATION DUE - October 20, 2011

Final papers are to be submitted by e-mail by September 01, 2011. Only papers presented will be published at the official conference web-site www.atomeco.ru. The official proceedings of presented papers will be distributed at the conference on a CD-ROM to all participants.

REGISTRATION

On-line registration will be opened on August 01, 2011. 
All authors, presenters, session Co-chairs and panelists will need to register prior to attending the “AtomEco-2011”.

OFFICIAL LANGUAGE

The official language for the conference, exhibition and other events is Russian (Translation will be organized for all penal sessions). All papers must be submitted in English or Russian (Russian is not obligatory).

CONFERENCE VENUE

The Conference and Exhibition “AtomEco-2011” will be held at the Center of International Trade, Moscow (24, B.Yakimanka Str.), on October 31 - November 1, 2011.

EXHIBITION

An exhibition will be held in conjunction with the conference program. The exhibition will cover technologies, equipment, technical and management services in the fields of radioactive waste management, D&Ds, spent fuel and environmental remediation and clean-up, nuclear facility decommissioning and dismantlement, nuclear engineering services, transportation logistics, etc.
