The principal focus of the Forum AtomEco-2011 is a discussion of the issues of latest trends and achievements in the field of radioactive waste management (RW), Spent Nuclear Fuel management (SNF), decommissioning and decontamination, environmental remediation. The importance of those issues, as well as their timely resolution in the most cost-effective and publicly acceptable way, become evident taking into account the recent tendency towards the renaissance of the nuclear energy worldwide, and specifically in Russia. 31 October, 2011 Plenary Session – «Russian Federation long-term government strategy in back-end.» Conference on D&D of nuclear facilities and rehabilitation of nuclear legacy facilities – “Decommissioning-2011”. This conference focuses on intermediate results of events and projects in 2010-2011 implemented in Russia within the framework of the Federal Target Program “Nuclear and Radiation Safety for 2008 and for the period of up to 2015”. In addition there will be a discussion of key projects to be implemented in 2012. The Conference will also feature representatives of international organizations and global companies operating in the sphere of D&D and nuclear sites rehabilitation. International IAEA Workshop “Evaluation of radioactive waste inventories, selection of technologies and long-term planning in the field of radioactive waste management”. Evaluation of radioactive waste inventories, strategies of the waste streams management, selection of adequate technologies, optimization of solutions and waste management practices in specialized organizations and utilities of the IAEA Member States. Roundtable Session – Rehabilitation of nuclear legacy sites and facilities in the U.S.A. and Russia – commonalities of tasks and opportunities for cooperation (with support of Waste Management Symposia). This Roundtable Session with participation of top-level representatives of the State Corporation Rosatom, Department of Energy, as well as leading Russian and U.S.A. business units will discuss a number of issues associated with realization of EM Programs in both countries. Specifically, opportunities for cooperation, technology transfer conditions, R&D outsourcing, and joint venturing will be touched upon at the Session. Session – Modeling the systems of SNF and Radioactive Waste Management as an instrument for advanced nuclear fuel cycles development. Session – Social and environmental acceptance of the back-end projects and programs.
